Middle School Team SystemTo best accommodate and nurture their growing desire for independence, middle school students are assigned to a team of teachers who provide students with close personal contact. This group is composed of subject specialists and advisors who take an active role in monitoring the progress of the whole child and communicating with parents. In sixth grade, students share a core group of four specialist teachers who meet regularly to discuss student achievement and needs as well as coordinate curriculum. In 7th and 8th grades, students are assigned grade level teams that share core academic classes, and teachers on each team meet weekly to discuss student performance. At Greenhills, the advisor takes the central role in overseeing the student’s progress. In addition to scheduled weekly advisory gatherings, each advisor teaches his or her advisees, making for frequent and close contact. <<BACKSnapshot of Middle School Message from the Head of Middle School Middle School Team System Community Building Signature Middle School Programs Activities NEXT>> |
