Strong showing for Greenhills at science fair

IMG_20160312_134427376Several Greenhills students participated in the 58th Annual Southeast Michigan Regional Science Fair March 11 and 12 at Washtenaw Community College. The fair draws students from five counties and is the regional qualifying event for both the Michigan State Science Fair and the International Science and Engineering Fair, which will be held in Phoenix, Arizona this year.  

Senior Luena Maillard took second place in the “Science and Society” category for her project on “The Significance of Visual Stimuli on Taste,” winning $125 and a chance to compete in the Michigan State Science fair April 9 at Kettering University in Flint.

 

Freshman Alex Choi took 2nd place in the “Computer Science and Mathematics” category for his project on “Algorithms in Graph Theory,” and also won the Grand Award 6th Place for the entire fair.  He won a total of $200, a chance to go to States, as well as special awards from the U.S. Air Force and the Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honor society.

Senior Annie Cheng and Sophomores Emma Galland and Michelle Zorine also participated in the fair.
