Middle school students are encouraged to try out for our MATHCOUNTS team, which is Greenhills’ middle school competitive math team. Students should bring a pencil and a calculator to the tryout. Approximately twelve students will be selected to be on the team, and the team will compete in the MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition in early February and hopefully in the state competition later in the spring. We’ll also participate in the Michigan Math League Competition and the Mustang Math Competition. Being on the team would require some weekend morning practices as well as some after school practices. If students or parents have questions, they can email Ms. Kemmerle at mkemmerle@greenhillsschool.org.
For upper school students, this year Greenhills will participate in the monthly Michigan Math League Competition, the University of Michigan Math Meet in the spring, and the UM Flint Math Field Day, also in the spring. Participation in the upper school team does not require a tryout, but please email Ms. Kemmerle at mkemmerle@greenhillsschool.org to express your interest as soon as possible so she can plan accordingly.
