Greenhills “Mathletes” qualify for states

IMG_4806While some might be content to sip hot cocoa or relax on a tropical beach during a snowy midwinter break, an intrepid group of middle schoolers on the Greenhills MathCounts team were successfully vying with other Ann Arbor area schools Feb. 13 in a regional mathematics competition.

The team of Ryan Wang, Yaseen Metwally, Daniel Zhang, and Andy Zhang were rewarded for their efforts, taking second place in the regionals and earning a berth at the state competition next month, said middle school math teacher Susan Beamish. Ryan Wang, an eighth grader, also placed third overall in the individual competition.

Other students competing were Ziyad Emara, Dixon Miller, Parini Rao, and Ismael Metwally.

Congratulations to all our Mathletes!
