Adrian Wade Wright Day draws a crowd

Greenhills held its annual Adrian Wade Wright memorial celebration April 25 with a Middle School 3-on-3 basketball tournament and an all-school talent showcase. The events celebrate the life of Adrian Wade Wright, a Greenhills student who was hit by a car in his eighth-grade year. Proceeds support a memorial fund established in his name.

Adrian was involved in many school activities, and his mother established the Adrian Wade Wright Memorial Fund to ensure his legacy, and especially his interest in diversity, would continue. To this day, the fund helps send students to diversity conferences.

This year 30 students participated in the three-on-three basketball tournament. Two teams of teachers competed. In the end, a group of 7th graders emerged with the victory.

After the tournament, students participated in an all-school talent showcase.  Sixth graders were well represented with a dance team, piano playing, and singing. Other students played guitar and performed forensics pieces, among other performances.
