Calling all word nerds and language enthusiasts! Join us for the launch event for Says Who?: A Kinder, Funner Usage Guide for Everyone Who Cares About Words, the eagerly awaited book by Michigan’s own Anne Curzan—acclaimed linguist, dean of the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and co-host of Michigan Public’s “That’s What They Say” program. The event will be held at Greenhills School’s Campbell Center for the Performing Arts.

Venture into the ever-evolving world of language with Curzan, a renowned speaker whose insights spark curiosity and laughter in equal measure. She’ll be in conversation with “That’s What They Say” co-host Rebecca Kruth, who also hosts Michigan Public’s weekday afternoon program “All Things Considered”. They’ll offer a lively exploration of the playful possibilities and hidden complexities of using language well. Whether you’re a grammar stickler or a conversational free spirit, Curzan will leave you empowered to make informed choices about the words you use, fostering understanding and embracing the dynamic nature of our linguistic landscape. Don’t miss it.

The conversation will be followed by audience Q&A, with a book-signing immediately afterwards courtesy of Ann Arbor’s Booksweet bookstore

“That’s What they Say” can be heard Sunday mornings at 9:35 AM on Michigan Public (91.7 Ann Arbor).

This event is free and open to the public, with support from the Ann Arbor District Library, Michigan Public, and Greenhills School. Register at michiganpublic.org/events. Advance registration is encouraged but walk-ins are welcome.
