Gardner and Lazarsfeld Earn Optimists’ 2012 Youth Achievement Award

Academic achievement, leadership, industry and community service have earned two juniors the Harold Eastman Outstanding Youth Achievement Award from the Breakfast Optimist Club of Ann Arbor. Honorees are Grace Gardner ’13 and John Lazarsfeld ’13.

Gardner participates in the club Students Organized Against Racism (SOAR), the African American Focus Group (AAF), and the Ann Arbor Youth Track Club. She is also a member of the Christian Love Fellowship Ministries. Outside of school, she works at Domino’s Pizza as a customer service representative and also babysits.

Lazarsfeld was a forensic team regional finalist in 2011 and a writer for The Alcove. He is the lacrosse team co-captain, and a violinist in the Greenhills orchestra, the Michigan All-State Orchestra and the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra. While he’s not in school, he is a business intern at the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts.
