Gryphons notch 8th straight state tennis championship

The Greenhills varsity tennis squad took the state tournament by storm October 17 and 18, cruising to its eighth consecutive team state championship while also earning six of eight possible individual titles.

The top-seeded Gryphons finished the tournament at Kalamazoo College with 37 points, while University Liggett placed second with 29.

News of the championship spread fast via social media, with one commenter noting that, in their entire Greenhills careers, the Class of 2016 hasn’t known a year without a boys state tennis championship.

The Gryphons have won 9 of the last 10 state championships, and 11 of the last 14.
