Gryphons sweep regional tennis tourney

DSC_0459The Greenhills women’s tennis team roared into action at the recent Greenhills-hosted 2016 Regional Tennis Tournament, winning an historic 32 out of a possible 32 team points.Coach Mark Randolph said  all eight flights of the women’s team won their respective flight championships for the first time in his career, and likely in the history of the school.

Kate Shaffer, Vidhya Rajaprabhakaran, Julia Friedman, Phoebe Sotiroff, Sam Rondeau, Orianna Gulvesan, Jamie Todd, Giselle Farjo, Baani Jain and Ryan Perry all swept into the finals and then clinched their individual flight championships.  The team hopes to capitalize on this momentum by competing hard at the state tournament, scheduled for June 3-4 at Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University.

Randolph said special thanks should go to Assistant Coach Angela Bogan, JV Coach Andrew Ginnard, and Boys Head Coach Eric Gajar, who worked  together to host a wonderful day of high school tennis.
