Mars Rover team finishes third in U-M competition

Mars Rover team finishes third in U-M competitionThe Greenhills Mars Rover team took away a third place award from a highly competitive group of finalist teams in the Michigan Mars Rover High School Competition last Saturday.

This final event was a series of presentations held at the University of Michigan in the FXB Aerospace Engineering Building, followed by a tour of campus engineering facilities.  Student designs and presentations were scored by engineering undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty, and students were given valuable feedback that will help them prepare for an engineering curriculum in college.

“The scores between all the teams were really close, so we’re pleased with how we did,” says team co-captain Luke Krasner ’15.  “Plus we got to tour the engineering facilities, which was really cool.”

Representing the Greenhills team (left to right) were Tanwei Chen ’15, Piyush Goyal ’13, Brendan Kelley ’14, Luke Krasner ’15, and Minna Wybrecht ’14.  The team is advised by physics teachers Dr. Deano Smith and Dr. Jim Lupton.
