The modern and medieval mix at Choral Celebration

web-chorusA mix of world and seasonal music lifted up a crowded Campbell Center this week as Greenhills choristers gathered for their December Choral Celebration.

Middle and Upper School choirs took the stage Thursday, performing an eclectic mix of songs ranging from Filipino folk music to Billy Joel, from aboriginal Australia’s “Sesere Eeye” to medieval Europe’s “Beata Es.” For one number, seventh-grader Derek Zhu accompanied the singers for “Over Hill, Over Dale” on the piano.

Other highlights included a holiday mash-up arranged by members of the Chamber Choir and “Hanerot Halulu” by Baruch Cohon.

Members of the choir and the audience enjoyed a reception after the performance in the Greenhills dining room.
