Motor City Saturday includes visit to Detroit nursing home

cropped cardsLast weekend’s Motor City Saturday was a special treat for 18 Greenhills participants, who spent hours visiting and playing board games with the residents of Detroit’s Law-Den Nursing Home.

The visit, organized by Maya Millette, Brynne Hindle, and Vidhya Rajaprabhakaran, started at Greenhills at 9 a.m. and took students to the nursing home, located north of Midtown. Students played cards, Monopoly, Apples to Apples, and other games, as well as doing a fingerprint art project with residents and providing a dash of musical entertainment.

“It really was awesome to see our kids interacting with the residents,” said Greenhills Director of Service Learning Alyssa Friendly. “For the bus ride home, they were talking about how much fun they had.”
