Soccer, tennis, and cross country teams earn championships

It may not have been a great weekend for Detroit’s professional sports teams, but Greenhills athletes helped ease the sting by winning at a torrid pace all weekend long.

Tennis teams hoists trophyThe boys tennis team won its sixth straight Division Four championship Saturday by, among other things, winning all four doubles flights, despite having a relatively young team.

Greenhills’ boys cross country team, meanwhile, won the MIAC championship, while the girls team placed third. The boys scored 45 points, topping the second- and third-place teams by 20 and 32 points, respectively. As if that weren’t enough, boys coach Chris Berggren was also named divisional coach of the year.

Last but not least, the boys soccer team also won its district championship.
