Spanish Students' Sugar Skulls on Display This Week at Tios

In honor of Day of the Dead (a Mexican holiday that occurs every Nov. 1 and 2), 7th grade and Spanish IV students last week decorated sugar skulls, which are typically used to embellish Day of the Dead altars. The skull creations will be on display at Tíos restaurant now through Friday, Nov. 2.

“The altars honor and celebrate the memory of dead loved ones and are very beautifully and lovingly prepared,” explains Sra. Moffat, adding that typically the skulls are decorated with colorful Royal icing, sequins, feathers, foil, glitter, etc. “Our students had such a great time decorating the skulls that we have all decided to make this an annual activity.”
